I’ve always tried to see myself as someone who was warm, kind, compassionate. I think I am those things, but lately I’ve enjoyed giving myself the appointment of “Chaos Goblin”.

Following on from my original lie of me having a wife and child, I now have 9 children. That’s all I really wanted to share. Oh, and my wife is terribly ill.

Clearly I’m not being productive enough, hustling enough, or sacrificing myself on the altar of capitalism in quite the shade of red required, so my question to you, dear reader, is when are we going to acknowledge that being handed something, and knowing how to do the thing we’re being handed, are fundamentally different things? So I may have possibly, accidentally, maybe perhaps, on a Teams chat, broadcasted that my wife and I are expecting a child.

I have no wife. I have no partner. I certainly have no child.

I thought everyone knew this. Apparently they did not.

So now a flippant joke has turned into a game of “How long can I keep this going?”

Because of course, I have to double-down on this.

Call it my own personal silent revolution. A refusal, in some small way, to partake in the mass social media onslaught that comes at us relentlessly each day. I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t want to leave something behind, some kind of legacy, some kind of proof that I was here. And while this is partly that, it’s also me practicing what I preach: to not be afraid of being bad at things. I’m not a writer, nor has anyone ever accused me of being one, but I’m learning, practicing, doing. I am partaking in this process.

Every ounce of my being has been wanting to vent about this for far too long, and I think it’s reached a boiling point. I want you to know that every piece of this, has been written by me. The fact that I have to point that out is the problem. It’s truly awful out there, with AI creating a lack-of-creativity hellscape. Everyone is rushing to just create more. They feel that if they don’t create more, they’re being “left behind”, but what are you actually contributing to? What is your end goal here, other than to just “take up space”? What value are you bringing to the table? And I don’t just mean monetary value, I’m speaking specifically about real world, holistic, human value.

Contact centres, voice biometrics, AI, flux capacitors, all the things that nobody thinks about until they break. They don’t break. That’s the job.¹
